Save McMillan Park
It’s NOT a “Done Deal”
[UPDATE] DC Auditor: New Competition for McMillan Developer (see press release)
Mayor Muriel Bowser, Ward 5 Councilmember Kenyan McDuffie, Vision McMillan Partners and the political-developer establishment want the DC public at large to think that the demolition, privatization, and development of McMillan Park into a suburb-like, luxury condo, high-rise medical office complex has already been decided. It's not.
The Community is not divided!
We have seen the McMillan Wars show overwhelming opposition to the destruction of our historically landmarked public open green space at McMillan Park.
June 2013 DMPED surplussing hearing at All Nations' Church:
45 persons testified, 42 of the 45 opposed surplussing. About 150 persons in attendance.
Here is the link to the comments collected (by hand; missing several if those who testified).
Summer 2014 DC Zoning hearings in Case #13-14
* letters in opposition to the destruction of the park: 517 || letters in support: 96
* persons testifying in opposition: 53 || persons testifying in support: 19
* total letters and testifiers in opposition: 570 || total in support: 115
Keep in mind that many of the letters in support of the development were drafted by Vision McMillions Partners who paid people to go door to door to collect letters of support as well as from people associated with the development. VMP is funding a campaign to show support for their development.

Independent Polling & Surveys
Here is the link to the Washington City Paper poll.
Here is a link to a City Paper Article explaining that the closer you get to McMillan - the more opposition there is!
Here is a link to the ANC survey.
This survey was conducted by the ANC reps in Bloomingdale and was blessed and reviewed by Kenyan McDuffie. The ANC commissioners went to great lengths to get responses from as many residents as possible.
Get involved!! Grow the opposition to the destruction of our McMillan Park!
What is the Council trying to hide, and why?!?
The DC Open Government Coalition (DCOGC) supports McMillan with their first Amicus Brief.
On November 2, 2015, attorneys with the DCOGC and Friends of McMillan appeared in Court to challenge the fact that the City Council, and particularly Councilmember Kenyan McDuffie, are unnecessarily resisting the law to disclose emails, letters, and other documents about our McMillan Park and the bad deal to destroy it.
According to this press release, DC's highest Court seemed surprised to hear an attorney for the DC City Council assert a sweeping interpretation of the FOIA law in an attempt to withhold the requested McMillan records.
